About

Me

Hi! I’m Adrian, I’m currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Chemical Engineering Department. My thesis topic heavily features polymer engineering, and revolves around the design of materials that are sensitive to and stiffen in response to force. I’m aiming to defend my dissertation in 2024 and move on to a postdoc.

I’m passionate about science, specifically chemistry and polymer science. My chemical engineering training has equipped me well with the tools to investigate emerging topics in polymer science as well as to develop novel technologies applying the latest techniques in organic chemistry. I’m a voracious reader of literature, and love to share my favorite papers as well as discuss recent developments.

I love to be active and outdoors, a day without a run is no day at all. I’d like to one day run the Boston Marathon, I just need to shave a few minutes off my time. I also enjoy backpacking, hiking, skiing (both cross country and downhill), and have recently begun cycling.

I’ve been a lifelong student of music, most consistently having played drums for the last two decades. I performed in jazz band as well as latin jazz band in my early years at college, and prior to that played a lot of classic rock and metal. In my early years of college I also branched into playing prog and even ska. You name it, I’ve played it. My next challenge with music is going to be setting up my own home recording studio, as well as writing and producing electronic music, mostly trance.

As if music and being active weren’t enough, I also love to tinker with and build things. This probably started with a childhood love for Lego and Warhammer, and has since branched into building electronics including PCs and 3D printers, self hosting my own services, and just generally doing as much as I can from scratch, including coding and deploying this website!
